India victimizing Kashmiris to suppress their struggle: Mirwaiz
Srinagar, April 15, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that India is subjecting the Kashmiris to brutality and repression under a well-devised policy to suppress their ongoing struggle for securing the right to self-determination.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement said, “After killing four innocent civilians in Handwara and Kupwara, the Indian forces are terrorizing people through use of brutal force and imposition of curfew. Most of the resistance leaders are confined to their homes. Practically, the entire Valley has been converted into a jail.”
The Mirwaiz said that the present puppet regime had squeezed the political space of Hurriyet leadership. “We are not being allowed to mourn the death of our innocents killed by Indian forces. We are not even allowed to hold meetings and seminars. The PDP’s slogans of battle of ideas has turned hollow as Hurriyet activists are being detained and not allowed to meet people,” he added.
The Hurriyet Chief condemned the recent statement of Indian Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, that PDP-BJP alliance was formed to fight Hurriyet leaders and activists in the occupied territory. “The remark of Jaitley has exposed the real agenda of the PDP, which deceived people with the hollow slogans like engagement of Hurriyet in talks and respecting peoples’ sentiments. It has also exposed the agenda of New Delhi towards Kashmir and its people,” he added.
The Mirwaiz said New Delhi was tackling each issue with military might. He said that the need was to fight the Indian aggression by coming up with a comprehensive strategy and well-planned peaceful protest demonstrations.
