PPI Original Text (PPI-OT) – Honourable courts are requested not to make fun of the Police Force

Lahore, May 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): The honourable courts are requested not to make fun of the Police Force because it not only brings down the morale of the officers/officials but also weakens the writ of the government. It is also feared that this day-to-day mockery of the Police Force will ultimately affect the endeavors and efforts being made by the government institutions and the honourable courts to reform the policing. However, Police Officers are strictly directed to always follow the orders of the honorable courts in true letter and spirit.

This was stated by the Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing the Police Darbar at Police Lines District Layyah. Earlier, the police chief presided over a high-level meeting and reviewed the crimes and law and order situation in detail at the office of District Police Officer Layyah. DPO Layyah Shaukat Abbas, DSPs, SHOs and other Officers of the district were also present on this occasion.

The Provincial Police Chief said that the Police Department is the backbone of the society, which help build social balance and to ensure supremacy of the justice. Therefore, all the state institutions and social organizations should extend their full cooperation to the police so that the department could fulfill its sacred duty of provision of protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

The IGP said that all the respectable institutions are respectable to ensure criminal justice otherwise the criminals and rogue elements could become a serious threat to the state. He said that the crimes could be eliminated from the society only by strengthen criminal justice system through an effective prosecution and protection to the witnesses.

The IGP said that the Police Officers/Officials, by putting their lives at stake, are working day and night and fighting against hardened criminals during field duties. He said that despite a number of policemen are martyred while performing day-to-day duties, they are still struggling hard to defeat the criminals. The IGP said that a state-of-the-art Punjab School of Investigation is being established to carry out investigations on modern lines and to improve the skills of the investigating officers.

The IGP said that all the investigation officers serving in Police Stations all over the Punjab would be provided training at this school in different phases so that their professional skills could be enhanced. He also said that modern forensic laboratories would be established in each district so that the police could be able to unearth professional and organized criminals by using scientific methods.

Meanwhile, the IGP inaugurated the newly constructed Chowk Azam Police Station at Mianwali Road.

This Police Station has been established with an estimated cost of Rs.13 million while two separate lockups for women and men are constructed in the Police Station apart from 21 new rooms. The facility included a reporting room and SHO Office besides the offices and residential rooms for the policemen. At least 48 villages located in the jurisdiction of this police station.
