World urged to play role in Kashmir resolution
Srinagar, March 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Director of Kashmir Institute of Strategic Studies, Khalid Jehangir has urged the international community to play role in resolving the long-pending Kashmir dispute and asked New Delhi to hand over the body of Afzal Guru.
Khalid Jehangir in a statement in Srinagar maintained that the Kashmiris as the prime party and main stakeholder of this dispute should be part of the process aimed at settling the dispute and no solution can be imposed on them, which was against their aspirations.
The director also urged the Indian Prime Minister to initiate dialogue process and reminded about the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs). He impressed upon the need of ending political uncertainty in Kashmir as the domino effect of Kashmir can destabilize peace and stability of not only India and Pakistan but of whole region.
He observed denial of justice “adds to the alienation of people of Kashmir.”
The Director of Kashmir Institute of Strategic Studies added that presence of troops in populated areas and bunkers and camps in urban and rural areas needs to be dismantled to provide breathing space to people and at places where camps have been erected on farm land need to be lifted urgently.
