Saudi Arabia Lauds Services of Speaker National Assembly for Muslim Ummah as a Role Model
Islamabad, March 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad Mr. Abdul Aziz Bin Ibrahim Bin Salih Al-Ghadeer called on the Speaker, National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Mirza in Parliament House, today.
Both the leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed upon that the two brotherly countries had not only been cooperating with each other in various field but also considered each other as two countries but one nation devoted to peace and security for common prosperity of their two states.
The Ambassador also evinced keen interest in the ongoing democratic transition process in Pakistan and hoped that the country would address its issues with consensus for the common good of the people of Pakistan whom the Saudi Government held in great esteem.
While appreciating the independent role of the Speaker the Saudi diplomat said that she has conducted the proceedings of the House Assembly impartially to the satisfaction of its entire membership. He also lauded the great services of the Speaker for her nation and expressed the hope that the Speaker would continue playing her role in the future too.
The Speaker said that throughout her tenure as a custodian of the House she never compromise on neutrality and impartiality. She said that she enjoined complete independence in the presiding process which enhanced not only the image of the elected House but also earned great respect for the Chair itself that commanded respect of the Members from both the ruling and opposition benches.
The Speaker said that her ultimate objective would remain serving the country and its people. The Parliament, she said, was the best platform for such service. The Speaker referred to various legislations which the outgoing National Assembly had passed in difference fields particularly, concentrating on the welfare and empowerment of women folk in the country.
She also lauded the induction of a large number of women in Saudi Shura Council and hoped that soon there would be direct interaction between the women Members of the two parliaments. The Speaker recalled her meeting with the Chairman of Saudi Shura Council and Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council and hoped that such interactions would help in strengthening parliamentary relations between two countries.
Both the leaders also agreed that the mutual security of the two counties was very important for each other in the ongoing challenges that the Muslim Ummah being faced at present. The Speaker also thanked the people and government of Saudi Arabia for extraordinary generosity demonstrated for the people of Pakistan during difficult times.
