Pakistan is the result of sacrifices made by millions: Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Steel

Karachi, March 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): “This country was won democratically and legally by the unforgettable sacrifices made by millions of people and this state has its own unique status. The resolution passed on March 23 was the first step in freeing the Muslim from the domination of the British and the Hindus, it was the display of the unity of all the Muslims and their relentless dedication to their cause”.

These were the thoughts expressed by the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Steel, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Javed H.I. (M) as the Chief Guest at the “73rd Pakistan Day” function, when he addressed the vast gathering of teachers, students of schools and colleges and cadets who had assembled at the Pakistan Steel Cadet College in Steel Town.

The Chief Executive said that this day is a very important day for all Pakistanis. We should all be aware of the movement for and concept of Pakistan. Pakistan is the result of the continuous struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent for the last two or three hundred years. He said this country came into being because of an ideology.

This country is a precious gift bestowed upon us as a result of the sacrifices of life and property rendered by our ancestors. We should realize the importance of freedom. He said that he believes Pakistanis are competent in education and other facets of life and individually ahead of other nations. But we have not been able to work collectively and unitedly, if we do that there is no reason why we cant be extremely successful.

He said that we set up Pakistan Steel Cadet College and other schools, colleges and institutes where we can coach our younger generation and make them better Pakistanis with a future. We, therefore, consider our professors and teachers to be the most valuable assets.

The C.E.O advised his audience to response full faith in Allah. He said if Allah is happy with us, we can be most powerful people and conquer the world, but if we antagonize Allah there can be no greater calamity. After Allah we should have the greatest love and respect for our Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him. The Chief Executive said that we must avoid hypocrisy and conspiring and back biting against one another and work with full dedication for the progress of the nation and the country.

He said when he took charge Pakistan Steel’s production had plummeted to 5 or 10 per cent of capacity. “During the past 10 months, “he remarked” I safeguarded the interests of the employees and ensured that they are paid salaries on time.

I arranged for the provision of raw material, increased the productivity of the plants and the steel mills is now operating at 30-35 percent of capacity and it will be possible to take this production higher in the next few months. Once again Pakistan Steel will move forward on the path of progress and play its full role in industrial expansion and growth of the economy”.

Earlier in his welcoming speech the Principal of Pakistan Steel Cadet College, Commander (Retd) Muhammad Shameem Akhtar P.N thanked the Chief Guest on behalf of the faculty, students and the audience for gracing the occasion with his presence.

Those present at the function included. Acting Principal Executive Officer (A and P) Parvez Iqbal, Acting Principal Executive Officer (Commercial) Hamid Parvez, Director Hadeed Welfare Trust Brigadier (Retd) Mohammad Mansoor Alam, General Manager (A and P) Mahmud Shah, President CBA Dhani Baksh Samoon, Senior Officers of the Steel Mills, and the Principals and teachers of various colleges and schools.

The function commenced with recitation of Quranic verses by Cadet Aqib, followed by a naat by Dilawar Husain, a student of Shah Latif Boys Secondary School. Students of Pakistan Steel Cadet College, Sir Syed School and Shah Latif Boys Secondary School took part in a debate competition, while patriotic songs were presented by schools of Mishal Secondary School, Pakistan Steel Cadet College and ‘special children’ of Aghosh School and College.

The Chief Guest distributed prizes to the Cadets and Students who had taken part in the various activities. At the conclusion, everyone present recited the National Anthem and offered a prayer for the progress of Pakistan and Pakistan Steel.
