Continued house arrest of APHC Chairman denounced
Srinagar, March 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Imam of central Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, Maulana Syed Naqshbandi, has condemned the continued house arrest of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, since February 9. Addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Maulana Syed Naqshbandi said that the puppet administration was suppressing the genuine voice of Kashmiris under a well planned conspiracy.
“Such repressive measure would not in any way break the will and resolve of Mirwaiz. In fact such hardships would strengthen his resolve to fight on behalf of people for resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” he said.
Meanwhile, the APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar lashed out at the puppet regime for not allowing Mirwaiz to deliver sermon and offer Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid for the fifth consecutive Friday. He termed the action as a direct interference in the religious affairs.
On the other hand, people held a peaceful sit-in at Gojwara Chowk in Srinagar, demanding immediate release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other leaders and youth.
