Caretaker Minister for Information takes serious notice of poor representation of women in the decision making forum of her departments
Peshawar, March 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Information, Public Relations, Culture, Education, Social Welfare, Ushr and Zakat Ms Musarrat Qadeem has taken serious notice of the poor representation of women in the decision making forum of all her subordinate departments especially the education department and has established a committee amongst the secretaries and directors of the departments of Primary and Secondary Education and Higher Education to devise viable strategy to ensuring equal representation to the women community in the decision making process.
She was presiding over a briefing arranged by the heads of Information, Public Relations, Culture, Social Welfare, Ushr and Zakat departments in Peshawar on Wednesday. Secretary Information and Culture Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Secretary Social Welfare and Zakat Syed Khalid Hussain Gilani briefed the minister on the performance and future line of action of their respective departments.
The provincial minister vehemently declared that she could not tolerate any type of corruption in her departments and warned that those found guilty of this cancer would be dealt with iron hands. She said in the present tough circumstances and advanced media technologies, the information and culture departments were of great importance.
She said within the existing phenomenon where ever terrorism and extremism had spread every where the global community needed to be kept informed fully of the day to day happenings and for this purpose the department of information was playing a vital role.
She said the information department needed to be equipped with the latest info-tech tools and assured that she would do her level best for the over all improvement of the department making available all the existing necessary info-tech resources. She promised that side by side with the restructuring of the information department, efforts would also be made to establish TV channel in Peshawar and FM Radio channels in all the district headquarters.
Referring to the social welfare department Musarrat Qadeem stated that the department was the only way through which they could support the poor and the downtrodden section of the society. She called upon the officers of the social welfare department to fulfil their duties with missionary zeal as by doing so they would not only do their official duty but would also get place with the Allah Almighty.
The minister said that when she would observe better performance of the departments she would get satisfaction and called upon the heads of the concerned departments to fully obey her directives for the larger interest of the general masses.
Earlier, addressing the concluding session of the 5-day video and photography training workshop arranged by the URDP at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar for FATA students stationed at Jalozai camp, the minister said that the URDP workshop was very much important which would enable the displaced students to take their message to the world through video and photography.
She declared that they were peaceful nation and wanted peace everywhere. She said they were not terrorists but terrorism was enforced upon them and urged the youth to seek practical experience in all the social and economic sectors which would give them better place in the society.
