Cyber space security requires our attention: Anusha Rehman
Islamabad, July 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Anusha Rehman chaired a meeting to deliberate on Cyber Crimes Bill and Cyber Space Security here today. The meeting was attended by Stakeholders and Law Enforcement Agencies.
It is proposed to address in draft Cyber Crimes Law, the limitation aspect of the liability of intermediaries and service providers and tempering of SIMs and Handsets to be declared an offence.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Anusha Rehman said that MoIT should issue policy directives for the enforcement of type approval of handsets. The Minister further directed all concerned that the Federal Board of Revenue as well as the Ministry of Finance must also be taken on board for its enforcement.
The Minister instructed all concerned ministry officials to make sure that the Draft Cyber Crimes Law be provided to those who could not attend the meeting so that their feedback might be incorporated in the Draft Bill and also place it on the Ministry’s Website for comments.
The issue of Securing Cyber Space was also tabled for discussion and the State Minister urged all participants to come up with their valuable input on Cyber Space Security for a thorough deliberation and directed all to provide their comments / remarks / contributions within two weeks.
Establishment of Telecom Tribunals was also discussed, keeping in view the extensive litigation in the Telecom Industry.
