Programs for martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Aziz finalized
Srinagar, August 05 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), a constituent of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), has finalized programs for observing the martyrdom anniversary of senior APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
The JKPL in a meeting held in Srinagar with its Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, in chair, decided that the party leaders and activists would visit the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Srinagar on August 11 to pay tributes to Sheikh Aziz. It was also decided that on 13th of this month, a seminar would be held at the APHC headquarters in Srinagar.
Sheikh Aziz was shot dead by Indian troops on 11th August, 2008, while he was leading a procession from Srinagar to the Line of Control against the economic blockade of the Valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.
The participants of the meeting expressed serious concern over the growing human rights violations by Indian troops in the territory and appealed to the international community to take strong note. He deplored that after the Gool Ramaban a number of youth had been sent behind the bars on false charges and demanded their immediate release.
The meeting was attended among others by Muhammad Ashraf Sofi, Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Qadir Rah, Jaffer Kashmiri, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi.
