Hurriyet leaders urge release of political prisoners
Srinagar, August 05 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders have called for the release of all political prisoners before Eid, including the youth arrested during protests against the Bandipore and Gool killings.
Hurriyet leaders including Zafar Akbar Butt, Yasmeen Raja, Musaddiq Aadil, Javed Ahmad Mir, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir, Fareeda Behanji and Peoples’ Democratic Movement in their separate media statements said that Kashmiris had been offering unparalleled sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and not for perks and privileges.
They said that during the recent protests against the military violence and atrocities committed by the Indian troopers, police had arrested hundreds of innocent youth from the Kashmir Valley, Doda, Ramban, Poonch and Rajouri areas.
The statements while expressing serious concern over the continued illegal arrest of Hurriyet leaders urged world human rights bodies to take notice of the appalling human rights situation in Kashmir.
