Sindh Minister for Local Government declares rain emergency in City
Karachi, August 13 2013 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Owais Muzaffar has declared rain emergency in KMC, KW and SB and other associated departments, due to rainy season so as to ensure timely drain of stagnant rain water from streets.
He has also directed Administrator KMC, MD KW and SB, Municipal Commissioner KMC, and Director Municipal Services to personally monitor the situation and be available on ground to ensure proper drainage of rain water.
Mr. Owais also directed for utilizing all available machinery and equipment for ensuring the same. He warned that if stagnant rain water is found anywhere on the streets of city, concerned officers/officials would be taken to task.He also directed MD KW and SB to establish his camp office in Civic Centre for better cooperation with KMC.
Minister Local Government said that rain should not be curse for the citizen and people should be facilitated with all available resources.
Provincial Minister further directed Administrator KMC to ensure proper cleanliness of the big drains for smooth flow of rain water. He warned that he would personally visit various city areas, so as to inspect draining of rain water. No slackness would be tolerated in this regard, he further added.
