National Accountability Bureau arrest Assistant Chief, Planning and Development Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Islamabad, September 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): NAB (KP) has today arrested accused Tehsil Zaman, Assistant Chief (BPS-18), Planning and Development Department Government of KP who in connivance with other embezzled Rs.110.00 Million rupees in the procurement of sanitation vehicles for Local Govt Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on exorbitant rates.
As per details, a complaint was lodged in NAB KP wherein the plea of the complainant was that the procurement of sanitation vehicles by Local Govt Department was not transparent and the officers and officials of Local Govt Department (KP) have indulged themselves in corruption and corrupt practices.
During inquiry, it was revealed that officers/officials of Local Govt Department (KP) neglected the lowest bidder by knocking them out in the process of technical evaluation and awarding the contract to the higher bidder. It was prima facie established that the contractors M/s Meraj Ltd worked in connivance with officers and officials of Local Govt Department KP and sold the sanitation vehicles / equipments on exorbitant rates.
The accused Tehsil Zaman Assistant Chief was the representative of P and D Department in the Intra Departmental Purchase Committee constituted for this procurement. He was also the member of sub-committee constituted for technical evaluation. He worked in connivance with other accused person and signed technical evaluation without getting any report from the sub-committee member.
Potential lower bidders were knocked out on flimsy and illegal grounds in technical evaluation approved by him. The accused Tehsil Zaman, Assistant Chief (BPS-18), Planning and Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa presented before the Accountability Court Peshawar. The Accountability Court Peshawar granted 10 days physical remand into NAB custody.
