Islamabad, September 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): The presence of district courts in F-8 Commercial Centre is a great security threat for the lives of honourable judges and lawyers while traders and residents of the area are also facing many problems and government should provide urgent funds for the construction of lawyers chambers on the plot adjacent to Islamabad High Court building in G-10 so that district courts could be shifted from F-8 Markaz, this demand was made during a joint press conference held by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI)and Islamabad Bar Association (IBA).

Muzzamil Hussain Sabri, President ICCI, Zahid Mehmood Raja, President IBA and Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi, Chairman ICCI Committee for shifting of courts from F-8 and Sardar Tahir Mahmood, President, Traders Welfare Association, F-8 Markaz addressed the press conference.

They appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Federal Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to ensure that government provides funds on urgent basis for the construction of lawyers’ chambers in G-10 near Judicial Complex West. They said lack of funds was the main reason due to which courts from F-8 could not be shifted.

They said Judicial Complex West in G-10, where presently Islamabad High Court (IHC) exists, was built for district courts and demanded that the under construction building of IHC at Shahra-e-Dastoor may be completed soon so that district courts could be shifted from F-8 to Judicial Complex West.

They said that a plot was allocated in G-11 for construction of Judicial Complex East, but the same plot was not provided as yet. They said files of Judicial Complex East, Lawyers Chambers and Judicial Colony were lying pending in the Prime Minister Office since July 2014 for approval and demanded that Prime Minister should accord approval of these files along with allocation of funds so that construction of these projects could get started.

They said if government did not respond positively to address these issues, lawyers and traders would consider giving a strike call after one month. M. Shakeel Munir Senior Vice President, M. Ashfaq Hussain Chatha Vice President ICCI, Ch. Asif Irfan Secretary General Islamabad Bar Association, Naeemur Rehman Paracha Vice Chairman ICCI Committee for shifting of courts from F-8, Khalid Chaudhry, Coordinator of ICCI Committee and many other representatives of traders and lawyers were present at the occasion.
