Srinagar, September 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that Jammu and Kashmir is not just a border dispute between Pakistan and India, but it is an issue of the future of over 13 million people of the territory. Syed Ali Gilani in his statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that the people of Kashmir were the fundamental party to the Kashmir dispute, but India had enslaved them by the dint of military might.

He said that the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination had been acknowledged by the entire world including the United Nations, and they had advocated its solution through referendum. The veteran leader appealed to the world powers not to see the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir through the prism of Pakistan and India, but asked for addressing it in its historical perspective.

Hurriyet leaders Hakeem Abdur Rasheed and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in their separate statements in Srinagar said that the forum led by Syed Ali Gilani had emerged as the most dynamic platform to belie India’s claim on Jammu and Kashmir. Hurriyet leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Yousuf Mir in their statements urged upon the world leaders gathered in New York for UN General Assembly session to take concrete measures for resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute.

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and AJK Hurriyet leader, Ishtiaq Hamid while addressing the annual coordination meeting of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir in New York said that peace in South Asia was linked with the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. The AJK President urged the international community to press India to implement the United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

The group headed by Turkey while expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir extended full support to their cause. The meeting chaired by the OIC Secretary General was participated by the Foreign Ministers of all members of Contact Group. The Pakistani delegation was headed by Sartaj Aziz and included Dr Maliha Lodhi, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry and other diplomats.
