Rawalpindi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):From 7 Apr 23 onwards, an Intelligence Based sanitization Operation has been initiated to intercept a group of Terrorists operating in general area Mach, West of Sibi. The Terrorists are linked with targeting of civilians in the area besides harassment of coal mine owners to extort money from them.

Based on credible information, multiple ambushes have been laid along different routes in the area frequented by Terrorists for last two days. Resultantly, a party of 3x Terrorists has been intercepted while moving towards their hideout. On being blocked, they opened fire onto the Security Forces.

During ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists were sent to hell while another has been apprehended; a cache of arms and ammunition has also been recovered.

The clearance operation in the area continues to nab their remaining accomplices. Pakistan Army, in step with the Nation, remains determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.

Islamabad, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says democratic leaders always practice dialogue rather than resorting to violence. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said PTI Chief Imran Khan has been disseminating hate and creating chaos in the country.

He said PTI villains attacked institutions including judiciary and security forces in Islamabad and Lahore. Ahsan Iqbal requested the Supreme Court to take notice of the violence and ransacking at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad by the PTI crooks. He said Imran Khan wants bloodshed and anarchy in the country and is responsible for prevailing economic situation.

He said a conspiracy is being hatched to destabilize the state through attacking the state institutions. The Minister said strict action will be taken against those who took law into their hands in Lahore and attacked police and other law enforcing agencies. Replying to a question pertaining to the deal with International Monetary Fund, he said Imran Khan sabotaged inking deal with the IMF, but due to the hectic efforts of the incumbent government, a good news in this connection will be shared with the nation soon.

United States Advances Women’s Inclusion in Pakistani Policing

Islamabad, March 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan hosted the National Women Police Conference today at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad. Funded by the U.S. government, the conference united key stakeholders in policing and women’s rights under the theme of “Inspire, Empower, and Transform.”

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and the Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) helped organize the conference. During his remarks, U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome emphasized the importance of women’s inclusion in policing and the need for innovative policies to ensure equal access to justice.

Highlighting the role of women in policing and acknowledging the challenges they face in their line of work, he commended the organizers and attendees for their efforts in promoting women’s rights and empowerment, expressing his hope that the conference would lead to positive outcomes and tangible results.

Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar also affirmed the Pakistani government’s commitment to ensuring that everyone in Pakistan has access to justice and that women are safe. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the country.

The National Women Police Conference 2023 is part of a broader effort to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Pakistan. Through the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, the U.S. government has been working closely with the Government of Pakistan and civil society partners to support initiatives that promote women’s rights and access to justice.

The conference provided an important platform to discuss and share best practices, challenges, and opportunities for women’s inclusion in policing, ultimately improving access to justice for all in Pakistan.

President stresses preventive measures to reduce disease burden

Islamabad, March 08, 2023 (PPI-OT): President Dr Arif Alvi has called for making preventive efforts to reduce the burden and risk of diseases in the country. He said that Pakistan’s health sector could not afford to cater to the needs of over 220 million populations, adding that it was essential to focus on the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

 

The President expressed these views while talking to the medical students of Azad Jammu Kashmir Medical College, Muzaffarabad (AJKMC), who called on him, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. Welcoming the students, the President stated that the world was changing very fast and the education system of the country needed to adapt itself to the changing circumstances by focusing on improving the analytical abilities of the students.

 

He added that students should improve their IT skills as IT was going to have vast applications in every profession of life. Highlighting the importance of the nursing profession, the President said that the nursing profession had great significance and scope and the country needed to increase the number of nursing and paramedical staff.

 

He remarked that Pakistan was facing a shortage of nurses as it required 900,000 nurses whereas only 200,000 nurses were working in the country at present who were unable to cater to the health needs of the growing population. Underscoring the importance of education, the President said that progress could not be achieved without proper education, adding that the students should work hard and continue their profession to serve humanity.

 

The President also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue its moral and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) till the achievement of their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions. He emphasized that the international media needed to highlight the atrocities being committed by the Indian security forces in IIOJK.

 

He mentioned that Pakistan had been raising the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute at every international forum to expose the real face of India which had been involved in gross human rights violations and persecution of Muslims and other minorities.

 

The Principal of AJKMC, Prof. Dr. Mulazim Hussain Bukhari, briefed the President about the role of the college in providing medical education to students since its establishment in 2011. He said that the students of IIOJK were also studying in the college. He informed that the college had donated Rs. 20 million to the people of flood-affected areas and was also constructing 32 houses for them in District Dadu.

Bilawal calls for women’s empowerment, gender parity

Islamabad, March 08, 2023 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Islam forbids us from injustice against people, nations and women. The Foreign Minster expressed these views during a conference titled “Women in Islam “being held on the sidelines of the Commission on Status of Women at the UN headquarters in New York.

 

The Foreign Minister told the participants that the Islam It shuns race, colour and gender as a basis of distinction among persons. He said “Islam treats women as human beings in their own right, not as chattel. He said under Islamic law and tradition the Sharia, he said a woman had an independent social and legal identity and enjoys civil, political, economic, and cultural rights as well as inherit, divorce, receive alimony and child custody.

 

In his keynote address, the FM Bilawal said “Islamic history attests to the outstanding role played by Muslim women in all walks of life – education, enterprise, economics, politics and governance. He pointed out that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) declared that the pursuit of knowledge is incumbent on every Muslim, male and female. In that regard, he said, Fatima al-Fihri founded the world’s oldest continuously operating educational institution in 859 AD.

 

He said Muslim women have been agents of change in their societies. He said Islamic history is replete with examples of illustrious women: Hazrat Khadija (R.A.), a women business entrepreneur; Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.), a scholar and preacher; Hazrat Zainab Bint Ali (R.A.), a brave fighter, participant and survivor of the battle of Karbala; Hazrat Rabia Basri, a Sufi mystic; Shuhdah al-Baghdadiyyah, a scholar and calligrapher; Fatima al-Samarqandi, a scholar and jurist.

 

The Foreign Minister said even today, millions of Muslim women continued to dominate multiple fields – politics, education, health, science, commerce- in Muslim societies, citing Megawati Sukarnoputri, the first Muslim female President (of Indonesia), Najla Bouden, Prime Minister of Tunisia; Tansu Çiller, Prime Minister of Turkiye, Elsafty, a computer scientist at the University of Cambridge; Anousheh Ansari, first Muslim space explorer and astronaut, and Malala Yousufzai, the youngest Muslim girl to have won the Nobel Prize.

 

In Pakistan’s history, the foreign minister said, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s sister was at the forefront of the independence struggle and in the struggle for democracy.

 

He said “my mother, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, was he first Muslim Female Prime Minister, underscoring that she was elected to office by a huge majority, after a long and difficult struggle against dictatorship.” He spoke of the wide-ranging reforms she carried out during her premiership that empowered women of the country.

 

HE said women in Pakistan, had held prominent positions in every facet of life: as cabinet ministers, the Governor of State Bank, Speaker of National Assembly, judges in the superior judiciary and as federal and provincial secretaries to the government, district commissioners and district police officers, army generals, fighter pilots, ambassadors, and UN peacekeepers.

 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the Afghan Interim Government to reverse these restrictions and enable the women of Afghanistan to make their full and invaluable contribution to the development and progress of their nation.

 

During the opening session, the President of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Korosi, made his opening remarks followed by the Executive Director of the UN-Women, Sima Bahous, the Chairperson of the CSW, Ambassador Mathu Joyini and Ambassador Hameed Ajibaiye Opeloyeru, OIC Observer Mission to the UN, who delivered a message on behalf of Secretary-General of OIC, Ambassador Hissein Braham Taha. A recorded message of UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed was also played. She conveyed her greetings to the conference on behalf of herself and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
