Prime Minister directs to provide free flour to elderly, sick persons on priority basis

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited free flour distribution centers in Bahawalpur today and expressed satisfaction on the process of distribution. He visited flour distribution centers established at Abbasia High School and Dring Stadium in the city and expressed satisfaction over the process of distribution.

The prime Minister issued directions to provide free flour to elderly and sick persons on priority basis. He also directed to provide two bags of flour to the deserving people to save them from repeated visits to the distribution centers.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also visited Multan on Sunday and inspected free flour distribution center established at Sports Ground. He examined the process from registration to delivery of flour to the registered deserving families and expressed his satisfaction on the arrangements.

The Prime Minister listened to the complaints of people and directed authorities to solve these immediately. The Prime Minister was told that 34 free flour distribution centers have been established in Multan district to distribute around 2.6 million bags of flour among 850,000 families.

Government providing relief to low-income people: Prime Minister

Islamabad, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the government is making all efforts to providing relief to low-income people. He was talking to media during his visit at free flour distribution centers in Rawalpindi on Monday. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure resolving issues related to flour distribution. He said elderly people and women should be provided flour on priority basis.

He said special counters in collaboration with the National Database Registration Authority and Punjab Information Technology Board will be opened at distribution centers to register people, who are not registered with Benazir Income Support Programme.

Shehbaz Sharif said three bags of flour will be provided to people one time to save their time and transportation expenses. He it is for the first time in the history of the country that free flour is being distributed. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that flour distribution process will be improved gradually.

He said one hundred million people will be benefitted from this programme, launched in the holy month of Ramadan to help the needy people. He lauded administration and police for maintaining discipline at flour distribution centers. During the visit, he directed the authorities concerned to ensure resolving issues related to flour distribution.

Distribution of free wheat flour among deserving families continues in Punjab, ICT

Islamabad, March 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): Distribution of free wheat flour to deserving families under special Ramadan package is continued in Punjab and Federal Capital Islamabad. On the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, over fifteen million families in Punjab and one million families in Islamabad will benefit from this initiative during the holy month of Ramadan. Each deserving family will be provided three bags of wheat flour during the month through Utility Stores and special points of sale.

Foreign Minister Bilawal seeks Int’l support for people of Afghanistan

Islamabad, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for international support for the people of Afghanistan. These views were expressed by him while participating in the two-day, 49th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led the Pakistan delegation to the 49th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

At the Council, the Foreign Minister underscored the importance of the unity of Islamic Ummah and the role of OIC in overcoming challenges to peace, security and development. He highlighted Palestine and Kashmir as the common causes of the OIC and called for international support for the people of Afghanistan.

Info Minister criticizes PTI Chief for disturbing law, order situation in country

Islamabad, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan saying he is unwilling to cooperate with the law enforcement officials and stoking unrest in Lahore.

Talking to BBC, she said Imran Khan is using his party workers, women and children as human shields to avert arrest. She said Imran Khan’s audio leaks testify that he ordered his party workers and senior party leaders to procure petrol to use in petrol bombs.

Abdul Qadir Patel vows to completely eradicate polio

Islamabad, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for National Health Services Abdul Qadir Patel has expressed the resolve to completely rid the country of polio. He was talking to delegations of the French Agency for Development and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that called on him in Islamabad on Friday.

The Minister said despite flood damages to health infrastructure, Pakistan has not diluted its focus from polio eradication. The delegation members appreciated the progress made by Pakistan last year and hailed the political commitment at all levels towards polio eradication.

Pakistan, Australia hold Senior Official, Trade Talks

Islamabad, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and Australia have discussed cooperation in multilateral settings at the 8th Session of Pakistan-Australia Senior Officials Talks in Islamabad. Additional Foreign Secretary Asia-Pacific Mumtaz Zahra Baloch led the Pakistan side, while the Australian side was headed by First Assistant Secretary for North and South Asia, Gary Cowan.

The delegations had a comprehensive exchange of views on bilateral cooperation, including high level exchanges, cooperation in political, economic, development, science and technology, education, defence, migration and climate change. Additional Secretary briefed the Australian side on the regional situation in South Asia including the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and the grave and systematic violations of human rights in IIOJK.

ECP extends deadline for nomination papers in Punjab Assembly polls

Islamabad, March 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the deadline for filing of nomination papers for Punjab assembly elections till Thursday. According to ECP spokesperson, the extension has been granted in response to the demand of candidates and is aimed at providing ample time to complete the nomination process. The ECP has also extended the deadline for filing of nomination papers on reserved seats for women and minorities to Thursday.

The schedule of elections, which was issued on March 8, would remain unchanged. The polling is set to be held on April 30, and political parties are expected to comply with the ECP’s instructions to ensure a smooth and transparent election process.
