Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament 2016 kicks off at Karachi
Karachi, January 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): The first Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament has formally commenced today. An impressive opening ceremony was held here at Hockey Club of Pakistan, Karachi. Vice Admiral Syed Arifullah Hussaini, Commander Pakistan Fleet, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
While addressing the ceremony, Admiral Hussaini said that Pakistan Navy has always been at the forefront in promoting sports in the country and the event is yet another stride in this regard and a sincere effort to bring back our past glory in the game of hockey.
He emphasized that hockey is the game which requires complete and unconditional commitment both inside and outside the ground. It requires years of planning and use of right techniques and measures to train the players. The Admiral also appreciated the federal and provincial departments for their participation in the tournament; and Hockey club of Pakistan for its efforts in uplifting the status of national game.
Eight (08) top national teams namely Pakistan Navy, Army, Air force, Pakistan Police, National Bank of Pakistan, Sui Southern Gas Limited, Pakistan Customs and PIA are competing in the tournament. Final match and Closing ceremony tournament will be held on 28th January 2016 which will be graced by Chief of The Naval Staff as Chief Guest.
