Karachi, March 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):In line with the directions of Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB, NAB Karachi Bureau is committed to eradicate corruption across the board by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy. This was stated by Col.® Siraj Naeem, DG NAB Karachi while chairing a meeting of NAB Karachi officers to review performance of all wings of NAB Karachi Bureau.
He said that NAB Karachi has conclusively dealt with 7614 complaints during 2015. The number of complaints disposed off in 2015 were more than double in number of complaints received and disposed off in the year 2014. He said NAB Karachi completed 353 out of 432 inquiries, 121 out of 234 investigations on merit during 2015. During the year 2015, NAB Karachi has filed 101 references in Accountability Court and arrested 172 persons. The Bureau recovered Rs 1336.143 million from the corrupt elements in 2015.
He said that NAB Karachi conducted complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations across the board on the basis of evidence and transparently on merit under the leadership of Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB. It was informed that the PILDAT in its report stated that above 42% people have trust on NAB against 30% for police and 29% for government officials. The recent report of Transparency International also rated Pakistan in Corruption Perception Index (CPI) from 126 to 117 which is a great achievement for Pakistan due to Chairman NAB’s efforts.
DG NAB said that to create Awareness against the ill effects of corruption among the youth of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Over 10,000 Character Building Societies (CBSs) have been established across the country with the help of NAB and HEC in the country in universities, colleges and schools during the last one year to create awareness against corruption as youths are considered a vanguard in this fight.
He said that NAB on the directions of worthy chairman NAB devised a comprehensive Quantified Grading System in NAB in order to review and further improve the performance of Officers/Officials of NAB. Under this grading system, NAB Regional Bureaus are being evaluated every year at a given criteria. During 2015, NAB Karachi’s performance was Outstanding/Excellent which is result of efforts of all officers/officials of NAB Karachi. He directed all officers/officials of NAB Karachi to work hard with more dedication and zeal and conduct all complaint verification, inquiries and investigation on merit.
