Huge money being used to fan sectarianism in IOK: Hami

Srinagar, April 26, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, speakers at a religious function have called for spreading spiritual and basic teachings of Islam to defeat efforts aimed at fomenting sectarian discord in the territory.

He head of Karwan-e-Islami, Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami speaking at the international annual Shah-e-Jeelan (RA) conference at Shadipora demanded immediate ban on the sale of liquor in Kashmir terming it as the root cause of all social evils.

Maulana Hami said people of Kashmir need to study spiritual and basic teachings of Islam to defeat designs aimed at triggering sectarian clashes. “I can see there are many elements who want to divide people of Kashmir on sectarian lines, we need to rise to an occasion to defeat such designs,” Maulana Hami added.

Thousands of people participated in the conference that was addressed by world renowned Islamic scholars including Al-Umar Jeelani from Makkah and other Ulema from Madina and Baghdad.

“We have been demanding ban on wine since past many years but the administration has been delaying the issue,” Maulana Hami said. Later, talking to reporters, he said that huge money was being pumped into trigger sectarian divide in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Maulana Asif Ali Qibla, Maulana Abdul Rashid, Maulana Reyazul Haq, Maulana Mubarak Kashmiri, Qazi Yasir also spoke on the occasion. The speakers threw light on the life and teachings of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).
