Higher Education Commission Partial Support Scholar Completes PhD from Idaho State University, USA
Islamabad: Ms. Naveed Rehan has recently completed her PhD in English from Idaho State University, USA. She received partial support for PhD studies from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the final year of her study.
Her dissertation entitled “Passionate Struggle into Conscious Being”: D. H. Lawrence and Creative Nonfiction” explores the connection between the nonfictional work of Modernist British writer D. H. Lawrence and the newly emerging genre of creative nonfiction.
Earlier, Dr. Rehan earned a Master’s degree in English literary theory at Montana State University in 2004. The title of her MA thesis was “Rationalism and D. H. Lawrence: A 21st Century Perspective.” She also holds a Master’s degree in French from University of the Punjab and the Diplôme de la Langue Française (DELF) from the Alliance Française de Lahore.
Upon her return to Pakistan, Dr. Rehan has re-joined the Literature Faculty at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Dr. Rehan is the daughter of Mir and Shaista Rehan. Her father, a writer and poet himself, has long been an icon of the Pakistan film industry.
