Students barred from meeting Mirwaiz in IOK
Srinagar, November 03, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, students were barred to meet the Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in Srinagar.
Eyewitnesses told media men that a group of students arrived at the residence of the Mirwaiz at Nigeen. Though they managed to enter the premises but officials there didn’t allow them to meet the Mirwaiz.
“We were asked to leave the premises and they didn’t allow us to meet Mirwaiz sahab,” a student said. He added that students had decided to raise with the Mirwaiz the issues confronting them. “Majority of the student community doesn’t want to appear in the examination, but the authorities are eager to thrust examinations upon us. In this regard we had decided to meet Mirwaiz,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyet forum in a statement strongly denounced the former puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for spreading lies and malicious propaganda against Mirwaiz Umar through his spokesperson, Junaid Mattu. It maintained that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was open to making the Line of Control (LoC) irrelevant by demilitarisation on both sides, but not for making it permanent as offered by the former puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, during his recent speech in New York.
“Let us be clear on this, being the legatee of the blood-soaked people’s struggle for freedom, Mirwaiz since the age of 16 has consistently and with exemplary patience, courage and political conviction strived for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people,” a forum spokesman said.
The forum spokesman also expressed deep concern over the tension between the Pakistani and Indian soldiers along the Line of Control and Working Boundary.
