Lahore, December 22, 2016 (PPI-OT):The continuous collaborative working of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the State Bank of Pakistan has succeeded to create a favourable financial environment for SME sector. It was informed by Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, General Manager SMEDA’s Outreach Division today in a meeting with Senior Management of SMEDA.

He told that SMEDA had helped the banking industry design various products for SMEs, which were showcased by all leading players of the financial market in a financing expo held under joint arrangement of SMEDA and SBP at Karachi last week. The event was organized in two segments; first was the conference where banks and DFIs discussed the current scenario in SME Financing and in the second segment more than twenty banks and DFIs displayed their financial products supported by briefings to the visitors about application procedures to avail of the facilities, he said adding that besides the banks, some SMEs and Women Entrepreneurs had also displayed their products in this financial expo.

Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry further said that SMEDA was working both on demand and supply side by making SMEs bankable and also building capacity of the financial institutions development of program lending schemes.

Meanwhile, the office bearers from more than ten associations including UNISAME, PHMA, FPCCI, KCCI, PAAPAM, PAKSEA, PAPGAI, SITE Association, WCCI South and East and trade bodies, who attended the event, have applauded SMEDA and SBP efforts to introduce all of the financing products and services under on roof.

Deputy Governor State Bank, Mr. Saeed Ahmed and representatives of all leading banks have assured to arrange networking platforms to create an SME financing culture in the country.
