Chairman Sindh Text Book Board Syed Zakir Hussain Shah also attended the meeting. The Minister for Education directed to complete supply of free text books to the schools before commencement of new session 2017-18 so that the students might not get any hindrance in their studies. He added, ‘ Rs.1.6 billions will be spent on printing , supply and transportation of free text books to the schools. All rules will be followed and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard’.
Provincial minister for education and literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar told that the government was spending almost Rs.25 thousands to Rs.28 thousands on each student, studying in government schools but it was unfortunate enough that we were unable to achieve our targets. He was of the opinion that available data told that the government sector was spending much more money on each student as compared to renowned private educational institutions. And it was the result of unwillingness of the teachers and officers concerned. He asked the chairman STBB to always go on for open tenders for publishing and supply of free text books in order to avoid any misconception and bring a good name to the department.
