BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF PHILOSOPHER POET ALLAMA MUHAMMAD IQBAL OBSERVED ON THURSDAY

The 140th birth anniversary of philosopher poet and the conceiver of idea of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbal was observed today with national spirit.

Literary, educational, political, social and cultural organizations arranged special programs across the country to pay homage to the national poet and highlight different aspects of his life and teachings.

Earlier, a graceful change of guard ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore this morning.

A contingent of Pakistan Navy took guards duties from Punjab Rangers.

Station Commander Navy Lahore, Commodore Sajid Mehmood Shahzad was the Chief Guest on the occasion who laid a floral wreath over the great philosopher poet’s grave and offered fateha.

Corps Commander Lahore Lt. General Amir Riaz also paid a visit to the Mazar e Iqbaland laid a floral wreath over the great philosopher poet’s grave and offered fateha.

He paid rich homage to the great philosopher who presented the idea of separate homeland for Muslims of the Sub-Continent.
