New income tax act being introduced in GB


Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez Ur Rehman says new income tax act is being introduced in Gilgit Baltistan to facilitate the people of the region offering a fifty percent tax relief.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he said the new act will repeal the Income Tax Adaptation Act, 2012.

The Chief Minister said under the new taxation system it will be ensured that taxes be paid by high income segments.

He said the proposals by the parliamentary committee on reforms in Gilgit Baltistan headed by Sartaj Aziz are expected to be approved in the next cabinet meeting.

Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said PML-N has brought significant reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan and some elements are trying to spread chaos in the region.

He said it is because of improved law and order situation in the region that more than1.5 million tourists visited the region this year.

He said the Gilgit-Baltistan government will also launch an awareness campaign for its people to apprise them of the endeavors taken up by the Government for their benefit.
