Tariq Azim Khan attends Pakistani Canadian Association’s annual gala

Islamabad, January 16, 2018 (PPI-OT):Tariq Azim Khan attended the annual gala organized by Pakistani Canadian Association (PCA) Kingston, Canada. The event included award ceremony, banquet and enthralling musical performances, says a press release received here today from Canada. While appreciating PCA Kingston for its efforts to unite the community, the High Commissioner said that the Pakistani community should participate every opportunity to introduce our rich and diverse culture in Canada. He emphasized on participation of community members in volunteering services whether those are required by hospitals, senior homes, schools or at the community level.

The High Commissioner briefed the audience on CPEC projects and socio-economic developments taking place in Pakistan and informed that Pakistan does not need aid or assistance from other countries including US and it can do very well without aid. He said that we need recognition of our huge sacrifices in the war on terror and urged Pakistanis to promote soft image of Pakistan by showcasing the country through cultural galas and exhibiting strengths of the scenic landscape of Pakistan. Syed Attaur Rehman, President PCA informed the audience of the journey of the PCA Kingston during the last decade and the contributions of the Pakistani-Canadian community in fostering a strong bond among diverse communities in the City.

Mark Gerretsen MP from Kingston in his address appreciated the positive role, the PCA Kingston played in development of cultural heritage in the city. Sophie Kiwala, local MPP said that rich Pakistan culture has immersed in the local Canadian culture and the city has benefitted by the contributions made by the PCA Kingston. Later, renowned Pakistani classical singer Ustad Hamid Ali Khan and folk singer Nouran Lal enthralled the audience by their mesmerising ghazals and songs.
