OIC condemns terrorist attacks in Burkina Faso
Jeddah The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on France’s embassy and cultural institute, as well as the headquarters of the armed forces in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, on Friday.
OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen described this act as “criminal” and urged the local authorities in Burkina Faso to make every effort to arrest the perpetrators and those who stand behind them and bring them to justice. He also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Burkina Faso over the tragic loss of precious lives, and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded.
Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s position against all forms of violent extremism and terrorism. He also reaffirmed the Organization’s firm solidarity with the Burkinabe government in its determination to combat terrorism.
The secretary general emphasized the need to increase the international partnership to support the efforts of Burkina Faso and the Sahel region countries to defeat the menace of terrorism.
