One terrorist killed in South Waziristan by security forces

One terrorist was killed and another was apprehended during an action by security forces in Sararogha area of South Waziristan.

According to the ISPR, during intense exchange of fire, one security personnel embraced martyrdom.

The apprehended terrorist revealed that they had planned to conduct a fire raid on a military post.

The ISPR said Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism. It said sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.

Overseas Pakistanis are our precious asset: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said overseas Pakistanis are our precious asset and increasing remittances from them indicators show their trust in government’s policies.

He was chairing a review meeting on simplifying sending of remittances and providing more facilities to overseas Pakistanis under priority sectors in Islamabad today (Friday).

Imran Khan directed to ensure the completion of work within the stipulated timeframe for measures to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and said that a portal for redressal of grievances should also be made part of the plan by evolving a strategy for strict monitoring of the project.

The meeting was informed that the State Bank of Pakistan and the Ministry of Finance are jointly working on evolving a comprehensive package for overseas Pakistanis for sending remittances to Pakistan. This package includes financial incentives and prizes in proportion to the amount as well as allows beneficiary to open an account and ensure prompt transfer of money. It was said that a digital application is under process for the package.

The meeting was briefed that efforts are being made in collaboration with nine national institutions to provide concessions ranging from travel facilities to preparation of identity documents, purchase of essentials, payment of taxes, insurance and children’s education expenses.

It was said that the work will be completed by early next month and the program will be formally launched.

Independence Day: Fawad inaugurates photographic, painting exhibition

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain inaugurated a two-day photographic and painting exhibition in Islamabad on Friday in connection with Independence Day.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the archives will be digitalized this year.

The Minister said all the historical and important pictures related to Pakistan’s Movement have been displayed in the exhibition.

The Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized the exhibition. A video on the subject was also played on the occasion.

China pays close attention to situation in Jammu and Kashmir: Masood

The AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has said that Pakistan-China strategic cooperative partnership is aimed at building a community of shared future and the relationship between the two countries will weather all storms.

In an article, he said this is not empty rhetoric; it embodies a strong commitment of the two states to promote peace, stability, and development in the region and safeguard each other’s core interests.

He says China pays close attention to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and has reiterated its position several times that the Kashmir dispute should be peacefully resolved in the light of the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, and bilateral agreements.

Describing the Sino-Pak ties as a catalyst for mutuality of interests, stability, and shared prosperity, he said that the Sino-Pak equation is a sui generis and it is not a competitor with any other sets of bilateral relationships.
