Polling for election of AJK President underway in Muzaffarabad

 

 

Polling for election of Azad Jammu and Kashmir President began at the AJK Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday, after two hours delay.

PTI’s candidate Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and joint opposition candidate Mian Abdul Waheed are in the run for the slot.

Fifty one members of the AJK Legislative Assembly will elect 28th President of the state.

The tenure of the incumbent President Sardar Masood Khan will end by 24th of this month.

FBISE to hold 14th E-Kachehri today

 

Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education will hold the 14th E-Kachehri today (Tuesday) from 11 am to 01 pm.

Under the E-Kachehri, Chairman FBISE Qaiser Alam will be live on Facebook.

The problems of students and other stakeholders related to ongoing examinations, result declaration and any other query related to the functions of FBISE will be replied.

KP govt determined to make PM’s 10 billion tree tsunami project successful: CM KP

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is determined to make the ten billion tree tsunami project of Prime Minister Imran Khan successful.

This was stated by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan while chairing a review meeting on ongoing monsoon tree plantation drive in Peshawar on Tuesday.

The meeting was briefed that a target of planting fifty-eight million saplings has been set for the current plantation drive and that a total of eight million saplings have been planted from 1st to 14th August in the province.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan expressed satisfaction over  the plantation drive and directed the concerned authorities to ensure achieving the set targets of plantation drive.

He also directed to include plantation as compulsory part of PC-1s of all public sector projects.

The Chief Minister stressed on all the departments to play their role effectively for making the province and the country cleaner and greener.

PTI’s Sultan Mehmood elected as AJK President

 

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has been elected as 28th President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He secured 34 votes against his rival joint opposition candidate Mian Abdul Waheed, who got 16 votes.

The tenure of the incumbent president Sardar Masood Khan will end by 24th of this month and Chief Justice Supreme Court AJK will administer oath to the new President on the same day.

SAPM Religious Harmony urges people to respect all religious sects

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi has urged people to respect all religious sects.

Addressing a news conference in Peshawar on Tuesday, he stressed the need of religious harmony, particularly during the days of Ashur.

Speaking about situation in Afghanistan, he said Pakistan is desirous of peace in the neighboring country.

Maulana Tahir Ashrafi expressed the hope that Taliban and all other political parties in Afghanistan would sit together to establish peace in their country.

He said the region has remained under the shadow of terrorism and bloodshed for a long time.

The Special Assistant said Pakistan will not leave its soil to be used against Afghanistan and wants the same from its neighbor.

PTI govt to provide all-out facilities for promotion of sports activities: Buzdar

Tokyo Olympics Athletes Javelin Thrower, Arshad Nadeem and Weightlifter, Talha Talib, besides mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara and Shehroze Kashif met Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in Lahore.

The Chief Minister presented cheques of two million rupees each to Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib.

He also presented cheques of one million each to mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara and Shehroze Kashif.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the PTI government will continue to provide all-out facilities for promotion of sports activities and encourage the talents of youth.

Interior Minister directs LEAs to maintain security on high alert during Muharram

Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has said elaborated security measures have been taken for protection of life and property of citizens during Ashoora e Muharram.

Chairing a special meeting to discuss law and order situation, he said a special cell has been established at the Ministry of Interior to constantly monitor the law and order situation during 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The minister said the Cell will work round the clock.

The meeting also discussed law and order situation in federal capital, four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan and was attended by federal Secretary Interior and other representatives from law enforcement agencies and finalized a strategy with mutual consultation to maintain peace across the country during Ashoora e Muhamaram.

The Minister directed the law enforcement agencies to maintain security on high alert by taking strict security measures to ensure peaceful holding of mourning processions during the Muharram without creating hurdles for people in their routine activities.

He said civil armed forces have been deployed to support the local administrations for maintaining law and order.
