US to provide $1mln grant for Pakistan to address natural disasters

The United States will provide one million dollars grant in support of Pakistan’s ability to address natural disasters.

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, this humanitarian assistance will support disaster management authorities in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces to better respond to future disasters.

Planning Minister directs NDMA, provinces to expedite flood relief assessment survey

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed National Disaster Management Authority and all the provinces to expedite the relief assessment survey in flood-affected areas particularly in Balochistan.

He issued these directions while chairing a Flood Relief Committee’ meeting to review progress over flood relief activities in Islamabad.

The representatives from all the provinces informed the meeting that soon after the flood, immediate measures were taken and further progress is underway in collaboration with NDMA.

The Minister directed the concerned stakeholders to expedite the relief activities while ensuring the completion of joint relief assessment surveys in flood-hit areas so the rehabilitation process could be started.

It was also decided to engage Benazir Income Support Program for the disbursement of cash to the flood-affected families.

The Minister for Planning said the most deserving people should be given a top priority.

Pakistan, China agree to enhance business and economic relations

Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance the business and economic relations and industrial cooperation for joint ventures.

The consensus was reached at a meeting between the Board of Investment delegation led by Additional Secretary and the Chinese Consul General, Li Bijian in Karachi.

The Consul General, Li Bijian appreciated BOI for meeting the Chinese and Pakistani associations in Karachi, and bridging the gap between the private sector of both countries.

The Additional Secretary of BOI apprised that the Government of Pakistan has proposed to build a G2G SEZ in Pakistan in collaboration with China, in order to facilitate the influx of Chinese industries relocating to Pakistan.

He informed that BOI has simplified the work visa process and visit visa and encouraged the Chinese investors and companies to apply for the work visa.

PM inaugurates Rawal Chowk flyover

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally inaugurated the Rawal Chowk flyover.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister directed the authorities to complete the Bharakahu flyover project in next four months.

Appreciating the spirit involved in speedy completion of Rawal Chowk flyover project, the Prime Minister also directed to complete the intracity public transport project within a month.
