Radio Pakistan Peshawar establishes Flood Relief Cell at Broadcasting House

Radio Pakistan Peshawar has established a Flood Relief Cell in the Broadcasting House for rain and flood affected people.

It is broadcasting special transmission to get donations from public for the flood victims.

Radio Pakistan Peshawar has also established a relief camp for the rain and flood affected people at Bacha Khan Chowk in Peshawar city.

UAE offers all possible assistance to Pakistan to mitigate sufferings of flood victims

United Arab Emirates has offered all possible assistance to Pakistan to mitigate the sufferings of flood victims in the country.

This assistance was offered during a telephonic conversation between President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed apprised the Prime Minister that UAE would be immediately dispatching food supplies in addition to medical, pharmaceutical, tents and shelter materials.

He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences over the loss of precious lives due to torrential rains and flash floods in different parts of Pakistan. He expressed firm solidarity with the people of Pakistan in this difficult time and wished all the injured a speedy recovery.

The Prime Minister briefed the UAE President on the nationwide devastation caused by unprecedented monsoon rains in the country.

Shehbaz Sharif also thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for UAE’s timely assistance to support government’s efforts in rescue and relief operation.

Canada announces support to flood-affected people of Pakistan

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, says his country is providing support to Pakistan through United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund and Red Cross Canada to provide food, clean water and other essential services as quickly as possible.

In a Tweet, he said like many other Canadians, he is also thinking of everyone, affected by devastated flooding in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Foreign Minister, Melanie Joly, in a Tweet message, also expressed her deep concerns about the flood situation saying that we will continue to support the people of Pakistan.

She said the images of floods in Pakistan are absolutely heart-breaking.

Melanie Joly said my heart is with the victims, their families and Pakistanis everywhere.

The Canadian Minister for International Development, Harjit Sajjan also expressed grief over the losses due to floods.

He said my thoughts are with those who have lost family members, and the millions, who have seen their homes overwhelmed and destroyed by these deadly floods.

Harjit Sajjan said we will continue to monitor the situation and look at more ways to support the people of Pakistan.

Iran, Türkiye assure all out support in relief assistance in all flood-affected areas

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received telephone calls from Presidents of Iran and Turkiye.

President Ebrahim Raisi and President Erdogan conveyed solidarity with Pakistan and assured all out support in relief assistance in all areas affected from heavy floods and rains.

The Prime Minister thanked President Raisi and President Erdogan for their sympathies on the flood situation and stressed that Pakistan has been enduring severe monsoon weather since mid-June.

Shehbaz Sharif underlined that the humanitarian situation is being compounded by drastic impact to infrastructure including roads and bridges which is impeding both passage of people to safer locations and delivery of aid.

Highlighting the government’s efforts in this regard, the Prime Minister shared that Pakistan had prepared a “UN Flash Appeal” which would be launched on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister expressed the hope that international community would contribute towards meeting the funding requirements of the Flash Appeal.

In the bilateral context, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed commitment to boost relations in all areas. He also conveyed appreciation for Turkey and Iran’s steadfast support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

PM praises Pakistan Army, officials for evacuation of people from Kumrat

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Pakistan Army team and other officials for rescuing people, including students, stranded in flood in Kumrat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a tweet, he said I was informed about that matter during my visit to Balochistan on Sunday.

The Prime Minister said he instructed to utilize all resources to rescue the stranded people as soon as it was brought to his knowledge yesterday.

BISP starts distribution of Rs25000 assistance among flood victim families

Benazir Income Support Program has issued complaint numbers for flood and rain victims, in order to facilitate them in getting the assistance announced by the Prime Minister.

Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazi Marri said people can lodge their complaints on these numbers.

Shazi Marri said twenty five thousand rupees per family are being given to the victims of recent rains and floods through Benazir Income Support Program.

She said distribution of the assistance amount was started in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and South Punjab on Sunday.

UAE plane carrying relief goods for flood affectees lands in Rawalpindi

On the appeal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a plane carrying relief goods for the flood affected people of Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates landed at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The relief goods include tents, food items, medicines and other essential goods.

UAE Ambassador to Pakistan and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal received the relief goods at the airport.

It is pertinent to mention that 15 more planes carrying relief goods will reach Pakistan in coming days on the instructions of UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Info Minister condemns filing of FIR against senior journalist Waqar Satti

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has strongly condemned the filing of an FIR by the Punjab government against senior journalist Waqar Satti.

In a tweet on Sunday, she said Imran Khan on the one hand holds seminars for freedom of media but on the other hand he is curbing press through his government in Punjab.
