51st death anniversary of L/Nk Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed observed

The 51st Shahadat anniversary of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider was observed today at Mehfoozabad, old Pind Malkan.

According to ISPR, Major General Shoaib Bin Akram, laid floral wreath at Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed’s mausoleum.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour.

Various people from different walks of life, civil and military officials and relatives of Shuhada attended the wreath laying ceremony.

During the 1971 war, Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz was part of operation in the Wahga-Attari sector.

On the night of December 17, his company was halted at about 70 metres short of Indian positions. During the battle his machine gun was destroyed but Muhammad Mahfuz advanced towards an enemy bunker and jumped inside. He was stabbed with bayonets and embraced martyrdom.

On 23rd March, 1972, the Pakistan Government in recognition of the bravery of Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed, awarded him with the top military award ‘Nishan-e-Haider.’

Minorities enjoy economic, political, religious freedom in Pakistan: Baligh

Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman says minorities enjoy complete economic, political and religious freedom in Pakistan.

Speaking at a cake cutting ceremony in connection with Christmas in Lahore on Sunday, he said Christian community is playing pivotal role in various sectors for progress and development of the country.

The governor also greeted Christian community in Pakistan and across the globe on their Christmas festival.
