Current democratic government is trying to provide better employment opportunities to the youth

Faisalabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Under the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif, current democratic government is trying to provide better employment opportunities to the youth and especially handicapped to make them an effective segment of the society said Chairman, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Board of Directors (BODs) Malik Tahsin Awan. He said that the process for the recruitment of special persons has been started in FESCO. He further said that the orders to protect the rights of disabled people are also narrated in the Holy Quran.

In Islam, there is no economic burden on disabled people, caring for disabled people is our religious, constitutional and moral responsibility, he added. The Chairman Board further said that Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) is providing equal employment opportunities to handicapped in the all eight districts under the jurisdiction of FESCO, including Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Khushab. Applications are being invited from special persons (fit to work) for the recruitment of 388 different vacancies in FESCO under open merit. He said that for the first time such a large number of disabled persons are being recruited in FESCO.

Initially the employment period will be for six months, which will be extendable later on good performance. The recruitment of handicapped would be made for the posts of Assistant Personal Secretary, Line Superintendent-I, Substation Operator, Assistant Admin/Head Clerk, Data Entry Operator, Data Coder, Senior Store Keeper, Accounts Assistant, Commercial Assistant, Audit Assistant, Steno, Line Superintendent, Substation Operator-II, Junior Store Keeper, AFM, UDC, Stock Clerk, LDC, Meter Reader, Tracer, Security Sergeant, ASSA, Bill Distributor, ALM, Lorry cleaners, Naib Kasid and Mali. Applications for these posts will be invited through the National Testing Service (NTS) and the recruitment process will be based on merit and transparency.

Removal of System Constraints continues Another 250 MVA (220/132 kV) autotransformer energized at NTDC’s 500 kV Shikarpur Grid Station

Lahore, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has successfully augmented the second 220/132 kV auto transformer of 160 MVA rating with a 250 MVA rating unit at 500/ 220 kV Shikarpur Grid Station. The said autotransformer was successfully energized today.

Completion of this project will enhance the capacity of Shikarpur grid station, which will help to carter for the increasing load demand of consumers fed from SEPCO network. This project was part of a larger and comprehensive plan for removal of critical system constraints which is ongoing with full pace. NTDC Management acknowledged the efforts of the concerned teams on completion of the project.

Bilal Afzal Follows CM Punjab’s Directive, Visits CBD Punjab Boulevard Site 

Lahore, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Caretaker Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, Communication and Works Punjab, Mr. Bilal Afzal, visited the site of CBD Punjab Boulevard and Kalma Chowk Underpass remodeling project as a follow-up to his last visit as per the directive of Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi. CBD Punjab Boulevard and Kalma Chowk Underpass remodeling is the project of the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District (CBD Punjab).

Provincial Minister was briefed about the development of the project by the technical team of PCBDDA and the official contractor of the project. CEO CBD Punjab, Mr. Imran Amin, COO CBD Punjab, Brigadier (R) Mansoor Janjua, Executive Director Commercial CBD Punjab, Mohammed Omer, Executive Director Technical CBD Punjab, Mr. Riaz Hussain, senior officials of CBD Punjab, NLC and NESPAK were present during the briefing session.

During the visit, Bilal Afzal said “My today’s visit is in regard to the directions by Caretaker CM Punjab to visit the CBD Punjab Boulevard and Kalma Chowk Underpass Remodeling site after every three days. I am pleased to see that CBD Punjab has taken the development pace to new heights and the project will be completed as per the prescribed timeline. Our aim is to open all the roads before PSL to accommodate citizens of Lahore and especially cricket fans”.

The construction work is being carried out in three shifts. The slabbing of the underpass is 50% completed and the transfer of WASA pipelines is completed. Soon CBD Punjab will start levelling for asphalt of roads. CBD Punjab is committed to the directive of Caretaker CM Punjab for the timely completion of the project.

Nation united to root out menace of terrorism: COAS 

Islamabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has said that we as a nation together will root out this menace of terrorism till enduring peace. This was expressed by the Army Chief during his visit to Peshawar Police Lines blast site today. He met with Police Officers and men.

The COAS appreciated the bravery and contribution of KP police and Law Enforcement Agencies in war against terrorism. He said that KP police is one of the bravest and has fought as a Frontline force against terrorism. General Syed Asim Munir also appreciated the high morale of KP police and LEAs and paid rich tribute to the martyrs of police who have laid down their lives for the defence of motherland.

Hina Khar arrives in Colombo on two-day official visit to Sri Lanka

Islamabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Minister of state for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar has arrived in Colombo on a two days official visit. The MoS was received by Sri Lankan State Minister for Tourism Diana Gamage, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Maj General (retired) Umar Farooq Burki and officials of the High Commission.

The MoS is visiting Sri Lanka to attend 75th Independence Day of Sri Lanka as a Guest of Honour. In addition to attending the Independence Day events, she will call on the Sri Lankan leadership and hold a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka.

ECP sought services of judicial officers for general elections of Punjab, KP Assemblies 

Islamabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Election Commission of Pakistan has forwarded a request to High Court of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide the services of judicial officers to ensure the conduct of free and fair elections of Provincial Assemblies. During an important meeting of the Election Commission held in Islamabad today with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in the chair, it was informed that a letter has also been written in this regard.

The Commission decided that the meeting of the Election Commission will be held on Tuesday in which the Chief Secretary and IGs of Punjab will give briefing on the elections, law and order situation regarding upcoming general elections of the Provincial Assemblies and by-elections of the National Assembly. The commission also decided that a consultative meeting with political parties on the code of conduct would be held on Thursday.

Pakistan army SSG, Corps of Engineers troops found out body of last missing student of Tanda Dam incident

Islamabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan army SSG and Corps of Engineers troops have found out the body of last missing student of Tanda Dam incident. According to ISPR, the operation continued for 48 hours till the time Army divers found the last missing body. All deceased 52 drowned students and staff has been found. The army diving teams of SSG, army engineers and Rescue 1122 also rescued 5 students alive from Tanda Dam.

Islamabad, February 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):“Empowering our youth is empowering Pakistan. Youth are our future. Government has embarked upon aligning the development and public policy with our youth by opening new vistas for them through Public Sector Development program internships initiative.” stated the Minister for Planning and Development Prof Ahsan Iqbal while addressing the audience at the launching ceremony of the British Council’s next Generation Report 2023 today in Islamabad.

Minister stressed that the country will get out of the economic swamp if we will be able to elevate our exports out of our indigenous resources from $ 32 billion to $ 100 billion in the next five to eight years. He added that our sustainable and self-reliant economy depends on how fast we can increase our exports as this is the only solution to end our dependence on international financial institutions.

He further added that we have to work hard to catch up with the emerging economies in the world adding that the country is presently facing big economic challenges but they are not bigger than our capabilities and resolve to overcome them. This is the time to move forward not to create despondency in the society.

Minister emphasized the need to promote collaborative potential in our youth to face the future challenges as future of the world lies in team work, not in individual work. He added that deep economic crisis calls for rising above the political point scoring and making a collective effort to promote production and export capability of the economy.

The Minister stated that we have undertaken various initiatives to cater the aspirations of our youth including sixty thousands internships in public sector to offer opportunities to get first-hand experience and three years IT training Program for one Lac youth to link them with global opportunities in IT sector. He further added that one Lac Technical and vocational training program is also being initiated to equip our youth with the skills set that will allow them to capture the job market.

The Minister stated that the future of Pakistan is pinned on our youth who have to steer the country forward with positive thinking in order to harness its full potential he added that our youth is second to none in the world in any field.

Minister also said that one lac Laptop scheme is being reinitiated to empower the youth to play their role in digital revolution age for Pakistan. He added that the Government has expanded the higher education program that will give our youth opportunity to avail seventy-five scholarships to get Masters and PHD degrees from the world’s top 25 universities. We are also developing 250 mini sports complexes to cater the needs of our youth and engaging them in healthy and sports based activities.

The Minister underscored that polarization in society is recipe for disaster that saps the social fabric of the society. He added that Bigot and hate mind-set turns the humans into beasts that destroys social fibre and the democratic values. He said that pluralism and tolerance towards difference of opinion is the norms.

The Minster also remarked that Pakistan did not lag behind other countries in development because of corruption, incompetency or lack of integrity but it was political instability and lack of continuity of policies which were the main culprits of our missing the opportunities.

He said if visions 2010 and 2025 plans had not been disrupted, Pakistan would be ahead of all countries in the region. He called upon judiciary, establishment, and politicians to learn lessons from past failures and mend ways for the future. We need to preserve stability, peace and continuity of policies at all costs, he added.
