Govt revises prices of petroleum products

The Government has announced prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight.

According to a press release of the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been increased by 4.13 rupees per liter while the price of high-speed diesel remained unchanged.

The new prices are effective from today.

Election of PM to be held on Sunday

Election of the Prime Minister will be held on Sunday.

According to the election schedule issued by the National Assembly secretariat, nomination papers for the office of the Prime Minister can be submitted by tomorrow.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held at three in the afternoon on the same day.

The nomination papers can be obtained from the legislation branch of the National Assembly.

Pakistan strongly condemns massacre of unarmed Palestinians by Israeli forces

Pakistan has strongly condemned massacre by Israeli forces of unarmed Palestinians who were waiting for food delivery in Gaza.

In her weekly media briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said this massacre demonstrates a blatant disregard for international humanitarian law and Israel’s deliberate and inhuman policy of mass starvation.

She said Pakistan reiterates its call for immediate and urgent ceasefire, lifting of the inhuman siege and unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The Spokesperson said Israel must also face justice for its crime against humanity being perpetrated with impunity against the Palestinian people.

On the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Pakistan denounces the decision by Indian authorities to ban the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir Bhat Faction and Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir Sumji Faction while extending the current ban on Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir for
five more years.

She said these oppressive measures reflect a vicious intent by India to suppress freedom of expression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in complete disregard of international human rights and humanitarian law.

Pakistan welcomes resumption of CASA-1000 activities in Afghanistan

Pakistan has welcomed the resumption of CASA-1000 activities in Afghanistan by the World Bank.

World Bank announced recently that, amongst other initiatives in support of the people of Afghanistan related to its “Approach 3.0”, the Central Asia-South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project (“CASA-1000”) in Afghanistan will be resumed as had been requested in December by all three neighboring countries participating in the project.

This announcement marks a significant step forward in the regions commitment to energy collaboration.

As a result, the Government of Pakistan is pleased to announced it has joined the other neighbouring countries – the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan -in signing a Joint Declaration to thank the World Bank for its timely response in approving the “ring-fenced” resumption of construction in Afghanistan, as well as to confirm their agreement to fully support the World Bank in implementation of the parameters agreed with its Board for resumption of CASA-1000 c
onstruction activities in Afghanistan.

CASA-1000 is a 1.2 billion dollars regional project to bring clean energy from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan via Afghanistan.

‘NADRA takes number of steps to deliver its services in improved manner’

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has taken number of steps to deliver its services in an improved manner, ensuring optimal security of its database.

According to an official of NADRA, the action has been initiated in compliance with the recommendations presented by the Joint Investigation Team, constituted under the directives of Caretaker Prime Minister to probe into the cyber security incident took place in March 2023.

Earlier, the Joint Investigation Team headed by Director Cyber Crime, Federal Investigation Agency after deliberate investigation into the matter presented its report to the Prime Minister, who had directed NADRA to initiate compliance actions as per the findings and recommendations of the report.

The JIT had also recommended technology up-gradation of NADRA and departmental and criminal proceedings against those found responsible for the lapse.

Naval Chief expresses confidence over operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy

Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf has directed Naval Force to take immediate measures for the rehabilitation and provision of relief to the victims of torrential rains, flash floods and land sliding in Gwadar.

He gave these directions while presiding over Command and Staff Conference at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad today.

The Naval Chief appreciated the acquisition of modern weapons and technology to meet the modern Maritime security challenges.

He also commended the efforts of the participants of successfully holding Sea Spark exercises.

Regional as well as global Maritime challenges were also discussed in the conference.

The Naval Chief was briefed regarding the ongoing and upcoming projects of Pakistan Navy.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf expressed confidence over the operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy for the defence of maritime boundaries of country.
