KP CM announces compensation package for rain, snowfall affectees

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has announced the compensation package for the affectees of rain and snowfall in the province.

In a statement in Peshawar, he directed the Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation to collect the details of losses from the concerned districts so that the affectees could be compensated accordingly.

He said that the legal heirs of those who lost their lives in rain related incidents would be given one million rupees each, seriously injured ones would be given three hundred thousand rupees each and minor injured would be paid fifty thousand rupees each, whereas; compensation would also be paid for the loss of properties.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has directed the divisional commissioners for necessary measures on priority basis for the reopening and rehabilitation of link roads closed due to snowfall and land sliding in their respective divisions.

Roof collapse kills seven in Swat

Seven people died and two others injured when a roof of their house collapsed in Matta area of Swat.

According to Rescue 1122, all the dead bodies and injured have been rescued from the rubble.

The injured have been shifted to the nearby hospital.

FWO undertaking rescue operation at various areas of GB

In the wake of recent snowfall and torrential rains, the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) is undertaking rescue operation at various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The personnel of the Frontier Works Organization have successfully rescued a trade convoy heading towards the Sost Dry port from China. The convoy was stuck up in the snowfall and land-sliding near Kasal during yesterday night.

Besides, removing snow, medical aid and food were provided to all the tourists, including foreign nationals.

The Frontier Works Organization has also cleared over 48 slides at the Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu road. The clearance operation will continue till the removal of rest of the slides at the Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu road.

Pakistan Railways earned Rs50b within eight months: CEO

Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways Aamir Baloch has informed that Pakistan Railways has earned fifty billion rupees within eight months from passenger and freight earning.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Railways earned 32 billion rupees last year within the same span of time.

He said that by the end of the year, an expected revenue of 80 billion rupees is anticipated.

35 die in rain related incidents in KP

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least thirty-five people have been died and forty-three other injured in the recent rains related incidents.

According to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, a total of forty-six houses were completely damaged while three-hundred and forty-six houses partially damaged due to heavy rains in the province.

Meanwhile, on the special directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, the food and other necessary items have been distributed in the rain affected areas of the province.

KP Assembly approves budget for running affairs of provincial departments

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has approved a budget of more than one-hundred and fifty-nine billion rupees for running the affairs of provincial departments for the current month.

The session was chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presented the motion before the house.

The house also unanimously adopted a resolution to declare the assembly chamber as a polling station for the upcoming presidential election on 9th of this month.

Expressing his views on the floor of the house, Sunni Ittehad Council leader Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to give their party the reserved seats of women and the minority.

Addressing the house, Speaker Babar Swati said the house believes in rule of law and has trust in the courts that they will resolve these issues.

Later, the Speaker prorogued the session for an indefinite period.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the landslide incident in Parhana area of new Murree and directed immediate relief activities in the affected area.

She expressed regret over the destruction of seven houses due to landslides.

Chief Minister was informed that the district administration is engaged in relief activities.

Two people injured in Khyber district attack

Two people including a police personnel were injured when some unknown terrorists riding on motorcycle opened fire on a polio team in Bara, Qambar Khel area of district Khyber today.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has strongly condemned the attack on the polio team.

In a statement he directed to improve the security of polio teams and arrest the culprits involved in the firing incident.
