Prime Minister Transfers Several FBR Grade 21 and 22 Members Due to Non-Compliance

The federal government has started to take punitive actions against officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for a non-compliance attitude of senior management just before the budget preparation exercise for 2024-25.

FBR has placed 12 grade 22 and 21 Inland Revenue Service and Customs officers. It transferred almost all key members, including Member Inland Revenue (Policy) and Member Customs (Operations, to the Admin Pool of the Board. The FBR will issue more notifications of transfers and postings of BS-20 and BS-19 after reshuffling senior officials in BS 22-21.

According to a notification issued by the FBR on Friday, the following 13 key Members/Director Generals of the Board and two Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue have been transferred as Members (Admin Pool), Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), Islamabad:

Mukarram Jah Ansari (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-22), Member, (Legal and Accounting-Customs) FBR (HQ), Islamabad.

Mrs. Shah Bano G.M Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Director General, (
IOCO) FBR (HQ), Islamabad.

Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Member, (Customs Operations) FBR (HQ), Islamabad.

Tariq Mustafa Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Member, (Accounting) FBR (HQ), Islamabad.

Ahmad Rauf (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Director General, Directorate General of Law and Prosecution, Islamabad.

Mirza Mubashir Baig (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21), Director General, Directorate General of Customs Valuation, Karachi.

Hyder Ali Dharejo (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), Chief Commissioner, Regional Tax Office I, Karachi.

Sources said that FBR also transferred Asim Majid Khan, a BS-21 officer of the Inland Revenue Service, presently posted as Member (Legal-IR) and posted as Member (Admin Pool), FBR. Asim Majid has been transferred due to a top multilateral tobacco company complaint as their issue was pending in the field office of FBR.

Earlier, FBR had also suspended Chief Commissioner LTU Yousif Hyder Shielf on the same charges and reports that the government will also suspend some other IRS officials on PTC-related cases.

Meanwhile, the PM on Friday also constituted another inquiry team under the chair of Secretary Finance, who will take responsibility for officers who failed to implement the Track and Trace System in four notified sectors.

The PM has shown dissatisfaction with the Tariq Bajwa-led committee, and the five-member committee failed to identify officers.

PM Shehbaz Sharif Removes Over Dozen FBR Officials for Non Compliance

The federal government has started to take punitive action against officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) just before the budget preparation exercise for the next fiscal year.

The major reshuffle has reportedly taken place as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is not satisfied with the performance of the FBR, particularly when it comes to matters such as smuggling and Afghan transit trade.

According to a notification issued on Friday, FBR has transferred almost all key members, including Member Inland Revenue (Policy) and Member Customs (Operations) to the Admin Pool of the Board.

Govt initiates strict action to tighten noose around hoarders

The government has initiated a strict action to tighten the noose around the hoarders.

According to the statistics from the 9th March to date , five hundred and ten successful anti-hoarding operations were conducted in which 2154.36 metric tons of fertilizer, 60.42 metric tons of flour, 53260 metric tons of ghee and 2155.39 metric tons of sugar were recovered.

“Ilm Tolo Da Para” literacy campaign continuing in North Waziristan

Pakistan Army’s “Ilm Tolo Da Para” literacy campaign is continuing in Spinwam and Shewa tehsils of North Waziristan.

The aim of the campaign is to equip the out-of-school children with education.

In the first phase, an educational survey was conducted, as a result of which over two thousand children were identified.

In the second phase, Pakistan Army launched a comprehensive awareness campaign with the support of civil administration and local leaders.

A documentary film was also made in Pashto language to make the awareness campaign effective.

The documentary raised educational awareness at the local level.

In the third phase of the campaign, the admission of out-of-school children’s was started and three hundred and thirty two out of school children have so far been enrolled successfully.

2-day peace fair conducted at Kohat University under Pakistan Army

A two-day peace fair was conducted at Kohat University of Science and Technology under the aegis of Pakistan Army.

Local and Afghan students put up various stalls including cultural and traditional ones. Traditional food stalls were also the center of attraction of the people.

A large number of students participated in the fair.

The university faculty and students thanked Pakistan Army for organizing the Peace Fair and expressed their determination to stand by Pakistan Army in defense of the motherland.

KP CM directs concerned departments to remain alert during rain spell

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur has directed district administrations and other concerned departments to remain alert in view of upcoming rains spell in the province.

In a statement in Peshawar today, he directed to make arrangements in advance to minimize possible damage due to rains.

Ali Amin Gandapur said the instructions issued by PDMA should be strictly implemented.

He directed to ensure presence of staff of district administration and local bodies in the field and to constantly monitor the possible flood situation in rivers.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert about rains and snowfall in different parts of the province starting from today. The spell will continue till Tuesday.

Punjab CM directs to take strict measures in view of forecast of rains

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed to take protective and administrative measures throughout the province in view of forecast of rains.

In a statement, she directed all Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and MDs WASA for drainage of rain water.

She asked all concerned officials to remain in field.

PM arrives in Riyadh to attend WEF’s special meeting

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the special meeting of World Economic Forum on Global Cooperation, Growth and Energy tomorrow.

Upon his arrival at Riyadh’s Royal Airport, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, along with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and other diplomatic officials.

The Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s position regarding global health, financial technologies, information technology, inclusive growth, regional cooperation and balanced use of energy in the context of global development.

On the sidelines, he is also expected to hold meetings with important world leaders, heads of international organizations and other important personalities.

The Prime Minister will also visit Gambia to attend the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference under the slogan Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue f
or Sustainable Development in Banjul on the 4th of next month.

Shehbaz Sharif would express Pakistan’s grave concern on genocide in Gaza, advocate for their right to self-determination, the imperative of solidarity, besides deliberating on Islamophobia, terrorism, and the challenges faced by the Muslim world.
