Abu Dhabi, June 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Following up on his commitment with Pakistanis settled in the Emirates, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan held exclusive meeting with the authorities in Islamabad and finalized the visit by a team of technical experts to Abu Dhabi and Dubai to troubleshoot problems faced by Pakistanis in obtaining National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).

The meeting between Pakistan’s envoy and chairman of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA)concluded that a team of experts would visit the UAE on June 13 and stay on for three days.

During their stay, the team will spend one day each at Pakistan’s embassy in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai, with express mandate to recommend solutions to the problems faced by the members of Pakistani community in obtaining NICOP, because of the non-availability of various documents necessary for processing such requests.

Commenting on this milestone initiative, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE said: “Pakistan’s mission in Abu Dhabi stands committed to facilitating our citizens settled in the Emirates and the upcoming visit by the NADRA experts is but another milestone in this direction. Let me encourage our community here to take advantage of the experts’ visit and make sure that they visit the embassy and consulate between June 13-16 to take maximum benefit from this initiative.”

He added that the processing time for NICOP had improved in the last few months because of the efforts put in by the Embassy, and Consular halls were also being expanded to extend maximum facilities to the community.

“We have further trained our staff in public dealing to raise the quality of services and more qualitative measures are being put in place for a better service delivery,”the envoy said.

Earlier in May, Pakistan’s envoy had held exclusive meetings with the members of Pakistani community, including ethnic Baloch representatives, apprising them of the initiatives underway to add value to counselor services, including bringing the team of experts from Pakistan to troubleshoot any technical problems hindering NICOP processing requests.
