58th meeting of Board of Administrators of Export Development Fund held chaired under Federal Minister for Commerce
Islamabad: The 58th meeting of the Board of Administrators of Export Development Fund (EDF) held on 29th June 29, 2011 in the Committee Room of the Ministry of Commerce under the chairmanship of Makhdoom M. Amin Fahim, Federal Minister for Commerce. The participants of the meeting included Senator Mr. Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Secretary Commerce, Secretary Ministry of Textile Industry, Secretary TDAP, President FPCCI, President of Karachi, Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sialkot Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Chairman of prominent Trade Associations.
The Board of Administrations of Exports Development Fund approved various projects amounting to Rs. 400 million relating to promotion of exports in various sectors. These projects include establishment of entrepreneurship Development Institute for Women at Lahore (Rs.10 million), establishment of Pak-Korea Garment Technology Training Institute at Karachi (Rs.10 million), up-gradation of Synthetic Fibre Development and Application Centre, Karachi (Rs.30 million), Budget of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design, Lahore (Rs. 45.513 million), establishment of overseas office and display centre of Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association in EU (Rs.68.880 million), installation of Hi-Tech Machinery at Surgical Instrument Manufacture Association, Sialkot (Rs. 30million), continuation of Child Labour Elimination Programme in the Soccer Ball Industry till 2013-14, establishment of Display Centre by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rs.58.183 million), and establishment of Women business Incubation/Developments Centre at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rs.35.050 million). Besides, salaries of Cluster Development Agents under the SME Cluster Developments Programme were not paid since long. The Board also approved funds for payment of salaries to these CDAs.
