World Kidney Day recognised jointly by Fatima Memorial Hospital and Planet FM 94

Lahore, March 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): Department of Medicine and Nephrologyat Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH) along with their official radio partners Planet FM 94 recognised the importance of World Kidney Day by arranging a free Kidney Camp on Wednesday 13th March 2013 at the Hospital Campus along with a Kidney Walk on 14th March‚ 2013 at 10:00 am in Shadman Lahore.

People from all walks of life participated at the Kidney Camp and Kidney Walk awareness of nephrology disorders among the population to create awareness of nephrology disorders among the population and to show solidarity with millions of people living with nephrological disorders all over the world.

On the events several leading names in pharmaceutical industry of Pakistan were present with their respective testing kits and equipment to facilitate free diagnostic process arranged by the Hospital team including testing for Blood‚ Uric Acid and Cholesterol. FMH also provided free giveaways including flyers on Kidney as well as caps‚ shirts and banners.

Speaking on the occasion‚ Chairperson Central Executive Committee FMH and Founding President of NUR Foundation‚ Shahima Rehman extended a warm welcome to all guests‚ faculty‚ family and friends present at the camp. She highlighted the achievements of the FMS System and announced a roadmap for future growth towards a leadership role in the healthcare sector.

FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry Principal Professor Dr. Humayun Maqsood and Hospital Board of Management Chairman Mr. Tariq Rehman and FMH Hospital Director Prof. Dr Arif Nawaz were also present on the occasion.

Situated in the Faculty of Medicine‚ the Department of Nephrology at Fatima Memorial Hospital Lahore is one of the only a few fully functional departments with international recognition and reputation for quality care in Pakistan.

It works with the mission to improve health through research‚ teaching‚ and leadership. Through such events like organizing a Kidney Day‚ the department contributes by helping people to first get an opportunity to have free checkups and tests and second to learn about various treatment options from highly qualified consultant doctors.

The Nephrology department is only a small part of the Fatima Memorial System. Today FMS is a leading health service delivery facility with its constituents that also include FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry‚ FMH Centre for Postgraduate Training‚ NUR Community Outreach Program‚ Student Leadership Program‚ FMS Centre for Health Research‚ FMH Institute of Allied Health Sciences‚ FMH Specialist Care Centre‚ Saida Waheed College of Nursing and NUR Center for Research and Policy among others.
