Complete strike in IHK against arrests tomorrow
Srinagar, March 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete strike will be observed, tomorrow, to press further the demand for return of mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, buried inside Delhi’s Tihar jail.
Call for the strike has been given by Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat that is also aimed at protesting the continued detention and house arrest of APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other Hurriyet leaders and activists as well as reign of terror unleashed by Indian forces in the territory.
The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar hailed the steadfastness of detained pro-freedom leaders and activists, languishing in different jails. He said that the people of Kashmir would not forget the sacrifices of these leaders.
Students of Kashmir University and various colleges staged anti-India demonstrations across the Valley. They raised slogans in favour of freedom and against India.
The authorities have ordered the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front to close its offices in Islamabad town.
Dukhtaran-e-Millat in a statement denounced the arrests of people especially youth in the Valley and demanded an immediate end to the ongoing arrest drive.
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement condemned the authorities for not producing the detained Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, before the court for the second time.
