House arrest of Mirwaiz, Gilani and other leaders denounced
Srinagar, March 20, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Zafar Akbar Butt has expressed serious concern over the continued house arrest of APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders and activists and demanded their immediate release.
Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar said that such tactics by the Indian government and its occupation authorities in the territory could not suppress the ongoing liberation movement as the people of Kashmir had resolved to take it to its logical conclusion, despite all odds.
He said that the protests by the Kashmiris after the secret hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru were natural. The APHC leader maintained that the body of Muhammad Afzal Guru should be returned to his family for proper burial. He also denounced the authorities for slapping the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and shifting him from Srinagar to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu.
