A two member team named Wings for Science will arrive at Karachi airport on April 26

Karachi, April 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): A two member team named “Wings for Science” [http://wingsforscience.com/] of France, consisting of Clementine Bacri (Ms.) 27, and Adrien Normier (Mr) 30 is visiting the world with a small airplane for one year [June, 2012 to June, 2013] devoting their flights and presence in every country to scientific research and education. Clementine is a baby pilot, and handles the educational side of the project.

She is a lawyer and worked for human rights in South America. Adrien, 30, is a professional pilot and engineer, and is taking care of the operational and scientific aspects of the project. Wings for Science is mainly organized by a non-profit organization, ORA (Observe, Report, Analyze), with scientists, teachers or aeronautics professionals as its members. Prof. Pierre Lena, President, LAMAP Foundation/Member, Academei des sciences, Paris-France is Mentor of this project and a sponsorship is also given by LAMAP Foundation to the crew. Major aim of Wings for science is to provide local public research projects with an exclusive airborne capability.

The crew is also recording short movies about the subjects to be used for educational purpose, and for the promotion of the local research to be displayed on the WebTV of the French museum of science for free.

Previously, they have travelled to Chilli, Peru, Guyana, Canada, Greenland, Island, Luxemburg, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and India, where they have recorded short movies on the themes including Analysis and protection of the Lake biodiversity, Localize the futures areas of fog collectors, Better understanding of the site , Mangrove Study of the cetacean in the St Laurent river, Study of the health status and chlorophyll level of the forest , Assess the iceberg mass transdisciplinary, and study over the climatic change.

In Pakistan, they will arrive at Karachi airport on 26 April, 2013 (Mid day) and will be back on 29 April, 2013. Prof. Lena and the French Team has desired that two days (on 27 and 28 April) program may be arranged, viz., First Day; Interaction with school students and Second Day; visit to a scientific lab for video recording and to air on web TV of French Museum of science for free. It is mentioned here that PSF and Academie des science, Paris, France has signed a MoU for promotion of Science Education in Pakistan, mainly through Inquiry Based Science Education “La main a la pate (LAMAP)”.

On 27 April, an important part of the program will be class room activities to be performed by the students/teachers by using hands on / La main a la pate/inquiry based science education approach by ETN School students/teachers. Science Teacher from ETN School also got training on LAMAP in an International training workshop at Islamabad held in Nov, 2011, and conducted by LAMAP Experts from France. PSF Science Caravan Exhibition will also be arranged on this occasion.
