Pak-Algeria agree to launch cultural exchange programme

Islamabad, May 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan and Algeria have agreed to launch cultural exchange programme between both the countries for the promotion of cultural heritage.

This was decided in a meeting held between Federal Minister for National Harmony Shahzada Jamal Nazir and Ambassador of Algeria Dr. Ahmed Benflis who called on him accompanied by Counselor, Khiari Abderrahim here on Monday.

They discussed bilateral relations in the field of cultural affairs between both the countries in detail.

Welcoming the delegation, the minister said cultural exchange programme will provide an opportunity to the people of both the countries to come closer and benefit from the expertise of each other.

The programme will encourage cooperation between the national libraries of both the countries, exchange experiences in the filed of publishing and distribution.

Both the countries will exchange experiences in the field of manuscripts and research in cultural publications. The both sides will also participate in international exhibitions of books. Visits of the artists and intellectuals would also be arranged.

The exchange of experts in the filed of archeology and science of museums will be arranged while scientific research and latest findings in archeology will be shared.
