German envoy terms killing of two IHK youth as tragedy

Srinagar, July 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): The ambassador of Germany to India, Michael Steiner has termed the killing of two youth by Indian troops in Bandipora district as a tragedy.

Michael Steiner addressing a press conference at the Kashmir University in Srinagar after delivering a lecture to students, said, “Germany’s position on Kashmir has not changed.”

“I pay my respect to those who lost their lives on Sunday and Monday in Kashmir and express my heartfelt condolence to their families,” Steiner said in his written address to the students.

Two youths including a teenager were killed in troops’ firing at Markundal village in Bandipora on Sunday. The deceased were Irfan Ahmad Ganai (17) and Tariq Ahmad Laharwal (23).

Earlier, the ambassador invited the university students to pursue career for higher studies in Germany and for availing job opportunities there.
