Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Presides meeting on Annual Development Plan of Local Government Department
Peshawar, July 29 2013 (PPI-OT): A meeting to discuss ADP of Local Government Department was held on Monday with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Local Govt: and Rural Development, Inayatullah in the chair. Secretary Local Govt: Hifzur Rahman, Director General Atif, Director General PDA Ameeruddin, Planning Officer Muhammad Javed and other officers of Local Govt: Department attended the meeting. Planning Officer of Local Govt: Department while briefing the meeting on ongoing and new development schemes informed that a total of Rs. 7961.827 million had been earmarked for 38 different schemes in the province in which making Peshawar clean and green, taking steps to provide adequate clean drinking water and sanitation facilities in Peshawar through WSSP, providing relief to commuters in Peshawar through spreading a network of flyovers and widening of roads, making life safer in old city area of Peshawar through replacement of old electricity cables, strengthening the local government system, making local councils financially viable through asset creation, providing clean filtered drinking water throughout the province, constructing more slaughter houses in cities for provision of healthy and hygienic meat, initiating work on establishment of two state of the art bus terminals in Mardan, to ensure safety of the people by replacing Ayubia Chairlifts and constructing a parking plaza for taking care of their vehicles there, to make Kaghan valley a more tourist attractive spot and establishing public part in Swabi to increase recreation facilities are included.
The Provincial Minister for Local Government directed the concerned officers to ensure in time completion of the ongoing and new developments schemes. He warned that further lethargy in the under construction Mufti Mehmood Flyover would not be tolerated as it was an important centre of the city and due to delay in its construction, the people were facing a number of difficulties. He said construction of the project be completed as soon as possible.
