Saghar denounces continued house arrest of Shabbir Shah
Srinagar, August 02 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the vice-president of Democratic Freedom Party Mehmood Ahmad Saghar while denouncing the continued detention of Party Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has said that imposing undue restrictions on pro-freedom leadership in the holy month of Ramadan is unjustified and direct interference in the religious rights.
Mehmood Ahmad Saghar in a statement said, “Baring Hurriyet leaders from offering Friday prayers and carry out other religious practices is a direct infringement on their right to religious expression.”
Referring to the DFP Chief’s detention period, he said that during the past two years Shabbir Ahmad Shah had been under house arrest and detention for 13 months and 26 days.
“During this period, he could not even offer Friday prayers”, he added.
