Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control chairs meeting of senior police officers of Islamabad
Islamabad, August 05 2013 (PPI-OT): The Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan chaired a meeting of senior police officers of Islamabad here today.
The overall security situation of Islamabad was discussed in the meeting and the Federal Minister passed instructions to improve the security of Islamabad.
The Minister said that the police should be vigilant at all times and formulate a coherent security plan with an emphasis on effective communication between all vantage points.
The Minister directed the IG police to improve monitoring on the check posts by posting active police officials, training them and by giving them incentives. Also their duty hours shall be reduced, while the unimportant posts should be removed, the Minister added.
He said that Ministry of Interior would take all possible steps to equip Islamabad police with modern weapons and by providing the required logistic support and funds.
An establishment of a Central Command System for having an integrated communication is very crucial for active policing of Islamabad he added. The Minister directed the IG Islamabad that it shall be priority under his supervision.
The Minister also directed the IG Islamabad to come up with a concrete strategy to deal with mushrooming of Kachi Abbadis in Bari Amam near Diplomatic Enclave and in I-11 and G-12 Sectors.
The Minister passed special instructions regarding overall security of Islamabad on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr. He added that mobile phones would not be switched off during Eid Namaz and security would be improved by means of effective policing.
In meeting the Minister instructed the DIG Traffic to improve the traffic system of Islamabad by scientific means rather than the old methods.
He stressed on the police officers to rise up to the challenge that they are facing at the hands of terrorists and serve the state by improving their performance, as it was nearly a war like situation.
He also advised the police officers to improve the public perception of their forces through playing a public friendly role when required.
