Protesters demand release of Kashmiri detainees before Eid
Srinagar, August 05 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, an anti-India protest demonstration was held at press colony in Srinagar, today, against the killings, arrests and other blatant human rights violations committed by Indian army and police in the territory.
The demonstration was led by APHC leaders Zafar Akbar Butt, Javed Ahmad Mir, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi. Dozens of activists of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement participated in the protest.
The protesters on the occasion demanded release of all illegally detained Kashmiris including Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Shakeel Ahmad Butt, Misbah Nisar, Muzaffar Dar, Masarrat Aalam Butt and Shafi Sheryati before Eid. They also demanded release of youth detained after the Goal-Ramban incidents.
The protesters called for revocation of all draconian laws including Public Safety Act (PSA) and Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the territory. They said that life imprisonment awarded to Sheikh Farhat, Imran Sheikh, M Ayoub Dar and 51 other Kashmiri be reversed. The protesters urged the authorities to shun the policy of slapping PSA on the arrested youths.
