Anti-Muslim violence in Kishtwar widely denounced

Srinagar, August 12 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, pro-freedom leaders and organizations condemning the anti-Muslim violence in Kishtwar have called for an end to clashes that have left, at least, three persons dead and injured more than 30.

Senior APHC leader and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DPF), Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement, said the plan behind fanning communal violence was part of a well-hatched conspiracy. He urged both the communities to play their role in putting an end to the clashes and maintain communal harmony.

Javed Ahmad Mir blamed BJP, Shiv Sena, RSS and Bajrang Dal for the communal tension in the Jammu region.

Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Chief Aasiya Andrabi condemned the use of force against the Muslims in Kishtwar.

In a joint statement issued in Srinagar Yousuf Naqash, Human Rights defender, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo also condemned the murderous attacks on Muslims in Jammu. “The saffron brigade is hell bent on destroying the communal harmony Kashmir,” they said.

APHC leaders, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Yasmeen Raja, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Muhammad Azam Inqilabi, Syed Bashir Andrabi and the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League also condemned the assault on Muslims in Kishtwar. Kashmiri leader, Sajjad Lone in a statement urged people not to play into the hands of opportunistic politicians.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Voice of Victims (VOVs) and High Court Bar Association in their separate statements said that the authorities had failed to provide basic amenities to the people of Kishtwar during Eid. “The people of entire Jammu region feel insecure,” it added.

The VoVs Secretary General Altaf Butt, Executive Director Abdul Qadeer and Coordinator Abdul Rouf Khan strongly condemned the recent human rights violation in Jammu.
