VDCs root cause of all problems: Geelani
Srinagar, August 12 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, appealing to people to maintain peace and brotherhood, veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani has said that pro-India parties are playing politics over Kishtwar clashes for their vested interests.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Some elements for vote bank politics are hell-bent to sow seeds of communalism in the territory.”
“Both Hindu and Muslim community since time immemorial have maintained mutual harmony and brotherhood. However, some vested communal powers are hell-bent to tarnish the fabric of mutual brotherhood,” he added.
Castigating the role played by VDC members said their very existence is the root cause of all problems in Jammu region. “The members affiliated with these committees are responsible for present turmoil and are involved in killing, rape, arson and extortion.”
The veteran leader said that people in Jammu and Kashmir since last 65 years were striving for self determination and had offered unprecedented sacrifices to restore their fundamental and birth right of freedom.
“However, India and its agencies are trying to portray present freedom struggle as a sectarian strife,” he added.
Syed Ali Gilani lashed out at the administration and the police for their negligence and said that they had failed to provide security to the lives and property of people.
